Scott Stewart (Head Coach & Athletic Director)
Coach Stewart was named the Athletic Director / Head Football Coach for the Temple Wildcats in February of 2016. He has 19 years of total coaching experience, including 17 years in high school and 2 as a graduate assistant at Sam Houston State University after playing football for the Bearkats from 1993-1996. He also has a bachelor of science from Sam Houston State University.
Coach Stewart was named the Defensive Coordinator at Temple in January of 2014. His defense helped spark a 25-4 record over the last two seasons, including a State Championship game appearance in 2014.
Coach Stewart had previous stops at Stony Point and Spring Westfield High Schools for 3 years and 7 years, respectively, where he also served as the defensive coordinator on some very successful teams. Prior to that, Coach Stewart was a defensive assistant coach and special teams coordinator for five years at Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas.
Coach Stewart is one of the fortunate ones that was lucky enough to find and marry his best friend and the absolute love of his life. He and his wife, Alisa, have been married for 15 years and have 3 beautiful children: daughters Cameryn and Channing, and son Kade.
Josh Sadler (Assistant Head Coach/Defense)
Josh Sadler has been in coaching for 15 years. He is an Athletics Administrator and Assistant Head Football Coach along with assisting the powerlifting program.
Coach Sadler is a graduate of Hawkins High School where he was a four year letterman in football and garnered awards in All-District and All-State. He also lettered two years in basketball, four years in track and four years in baseball where where he was named All District; All East Texas and All State. Following high school he played twp years of collegiate baseball for Angelina College, graduated Stephen F. Austin University and received his Masters from Lamar University.
Coach Sadler’s previous coaching experience includes 8 years at Liberty High School and 7 years at Houston C.E. King High School before coming to Temple in the spring of 2016.
Coach Sadler’s philosophy is “Work Hard – Play Hard – Have Fun!”
Ben McGehee (Associate Head Coach & Offense)
Ben McGehee has been in coaching for 11 years and is the associate head coach and quarterbacks coach for the Wildcats. If the offseason, Coach McGehee assist coaching the powerlifting team.
Coach McGehee is a graduate of Wink High School where he played both quarterback and safety. He is also a graduate of Texas Tech University.
Coach McGehee began his coaching career in Brownwood for two seasons, then coached at Abilene Cooper H.S. from 2007-11. Following Abilene Cooper he was at Palestine H.S. in 2011-12 and came to Temple in 2012.
Robert Havens (Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Tackles)
Coach Robert Havens is entering his eighth year of coaching and is the defensive coordinator along with coaching defensive line.
Coach Havens is a graduate of Conroe High School where he was a 1st Team All-District Lineman and 1st Team All-County Lineman. He is also a graduate of the United States Sports Academy. His prior coaching experience includes St. Joseph Catholic School (2008-11); Conroe High School (2012-13) and Stony Point High School (2013-15).
Coach Havens will teach credit recovery at Temple High School and assist coaching the powerlifting program.
Craig Martin (Offensive Coordinator and Slot Receivers)
Coach Martin is a 1997 graduate of Temple High School where he played both baseball and football for the Wildcats. Following graduation, Coach Martin attended the University of Texas at Arlington where is continued his playing career in baseball. During his time at UTA, he was twice named to the Southland Conference Team and once to the 2000 Regional All-Tournament Team. Coach Martin was later recognized to the University of Texas at Arlington All-Decade Team for 2nd base.
Coach Martin has been in coaching for 14 years and began his career at Killeen Ellison H.S. where he was the Head Baseball Coach. From Ellison H.S. he returned to Temple as the Head Baseball coach.
Coach Martin is also an assistant powerlifting coach and teaches special education at Temple High School.
Dexter Knox (Special Teams Coordinator/Cornerbacks)
Dexter Knox has been in coaching for four years and is in his third season at Temple where he will be the special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach.
Coach Knox is a graduate of Gatesville High School where he played football. As a junior, he was awarded the district Newcomer of the Year. His senior year, he was awarded 1st Team All-District cornerback and 1st Team All-Area cornerback. He also achieved Academic All-State.
Coach Knox coached at Lubbock Trinity Christian before coming to Temple.
Along with coaching football, Coach Knox will be the Head Coach for the Girls Track & Field program and teach math at Temple High School.
Mark Johnson (Offensive Line/ Center and Guards)
Mark Johnson has been in coaching for 32 years and twelve years in Temple. Coach Johnson in the offensive line coach for the Wildcats and an assistant track coach.
Coach Johnson is a graduate of Temple High School where he was named to the All-State Football team. Following graduation from Temple, Coach Johnson played at the collegiate level from 1979 to 1983 at Baylor University.
In his 30 years of coaching, he has coach at West H.S., Garland ISD, Corsicana H.S. and the last nine years at Temple High School. Coach Johnson also was honored to coach the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game in 2000.
Along with his coaching position, Coach Johnson also teaches in the special education department at Temple High School.
Joey Haag (Running Backs)
Coach Haag has been in coaching for seven years and is in his third year at Temple High School and coaches the running backs. Along with football, Coach Haag is also an assistant varsity baseball coach.
Coach Haag is a graduate of Temple High School where he played both football and baseball. Following high school, he attended and graduated from Texas Tech University. Prior to coming to Temple High School, Coach Haag coach at Bonham Middle School.
Coach Haag teaches in the special education department at Temple High School.
Chris Pilot (Linebackers)
Coach Pilot has been in coaching for six years and came to Temple in the spring of 2014 where he will be coaching inside linebackers..
Coach Pilot is a graduate of Lufkin High School where he played football, basketball and track. He was a two-time all-district selection in football. Coach Pilot then attended the University of Houston where he played football at the collegiate level.
Coach Pilot has been in coaching for four years which include Crockett H.S. and St. Pius H.S.
Coach Pilot will be a special education teacher at Temple High School and also is an assistant coach for the Track & Field program.
Kwame Cavil (Wide Receivers)
Kwame Cavil came to Temple in the fall of 2016. and will be coaching wide receivers along with jumpers in track & field.
Coach Cavil is a graduate of Waco High School where he lettered in both football and basketball. Several of his awards include: First Team All District 1996/1997,
All State 1997, All Super-Centex 1997, Fab 50 American Statesman 1997 and
Texas 100 (Rivals).
Following his time in high school, Coach Cavil attended and played collegiate football for the University of Texas. While at Texas he received numerous honors which include: All Big 12 All Freshman Team 1997, Team Freshman Co- Captain 1997, Honorable Mention Freshman All American 1997, All Big 12 Second Team Offense 1998, All Big 12 First Team Offense 1999, Coaches & Associated Press All-American 1999, Co- Offensive Team MVP 1999 and named a Bilenitkoft Finalist in 1999.
Coach Cavil has been in coaching for seven years. His coaching experience includes, St. Micheal Episcopal School (2008-2009), St. Stephens Episcopal School (2009-2011) and Manor High School (2011–2015). He will be teaching MAPS at Temple High School.
Rodrick James (Safeties)
Rodrick James came to Temple in the fall of 2016 and will be coaching defensive backs and safeties.
Coach James is a graduate of Stony Point High School where he was a 3 year letterman in Football (1st Team All-District), 3 year letterman in basketball 2nd Team All District) and 3 year letterman in track where he was a Regional Triple Jump Qualifier.
Following high school, Coach James played collegiate football and graduated from Texas Southern University where he played fours years and was a three year starter.
Coach James coaching experience include 3 years at Manor High School. He is beginning his first year at Temple where he will be teaching in the CATE program at Temple High School.
Coach James coaching philosophy is “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Loose”.
Toby Rumfield (Defensive Ends)
Toby Rumfield has been in coaching for 14 years and is in his third season at Temple where he will be coaching the defensive ends.
Coach Rumfield is a graduate of Belton High School where he was a four year starter in football, baseball and basketball. He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix and played professional baseball.
Coach Rumfield has been in coaching for 11 years.
Along with coaching football, he is the Head Coach for the Wildcat Baseball Program and teaches history at Temple High School.
Sandy McCarty (Defensive Ends)
Sandy McCarty has been in coaching for twelve years and is beginning his first year at Temple and will be coaching defensive ends.
Coach McCarty attended high school at both Flower Mound Marcus H.S and Broken Arrow H.S (OK). He played varsity football, basketball, baseball, track and powerlifting. He was a 2nd Team All District Defensive End with his twin brother. He was also honored to play in the East/West Shrine Bowl game.
Coach McCarty received his bachelors degree from the University of North Texas and his Masters from the University of Texas Permian Basin.
Coach McCarty’s previous coaching experience includes JJ Pirece H.S., East Central H.S., Odessa H.S., Midlothian H.S., Richardson H.S., Claremore H.S. and Kyle Lehman H.S.
Along with teaching U.S. History at Temple High School, Coach McCarty will coach shot & disc for the track & field programs.
Ron Ford (Running Backs)
Ron Ford has been in Temple ISD for 11 years and will assist in coaching freshman football.
Coach Ford is a graduate of Gatesville High School where participated in football and track. In football, Coach Ford was a 1st Team All-District fullback, team captain and recipient of the Hornet Pride Award. In track, he was a member of the school’s 4×100 Relay team that was runner-up at the State Meet and both District and Regional champions.
Coach Ford began his collegiate career at San Jacinto Jr. College where he achieved All-America status. Following San Jacinto, Coach Ford attended Tarleton State University where he also received his Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction.
Coach Ford has been taught English at Travis Middle School where he has been awarded teacher of the month in March 2009 and February 2013. Coach Ford is currently teaches in the MAPS program at Temple High School and is the Head Boys Track & Field Coach. His Track & Field teams were the 2014 District 8-5A Champions and 2015 District 17-5A Champions.
Coach Ford believes that “Hard Work beats talent Every Time”.
Wayne Ransleben (Head Video Receivers)
Wayne Ransleben coaches receivers for the Wildcats. He has been in coaching for 26 years and the last 16 in Temple ISD.
Coach Ransleben is a graduate of Fredricksburg High School where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. Coach Ransleben attented Angelo State University where he received his bachelors degree. While at Angelo State, he continued his career in track & field where he was an All-American in the hammer throw and five national qualifier in the discus.
Coach Ransleben’s coaching experience includes stints at Marlin H.S.; Paradise H.S. and Killeen Ellison H.S. before coming to Temple ISD.
Along coaching receivers, Coach Ransleben is an assistant coach for the Boys Basketball and Track programs.
Derek Oden (Tight Ends/Fullbacks)
Derek Oden will be coaching tight ends and fullbacks for Wildcats and begins his fourth season in Temple ISD and second at Temple High School
Coach Oden is a graduate of Midway High School where he was an all-district center in football. He is also a graduate of Texas Tech University and received his MBA from Baylor University.
Coach Oden has been in coaching for 6 years and began his career at West H.S. Coach Oden spent two season at Travis Middle School where he was named Teacher of the Year at Travis for 2013-14.
Along with coaching football, Coach Oden will assist the Wildcat Baseball Program and teach math at Temple High School.
Ross McAngus (Offensive Line / Tackles)
Coach McAngus is in his seventh year of coaching and begins his first year at Temple High School. He will be coaching defensive ends.
Coach McAngus is a graduate of Justin Northwest High School where he participated in Varsity Football, Powerlifting and Track. He was named 1st Team All-District and All-Area in football along with earning Academic All-State honors. Coach McAngus lettered three years in football at Tarleton State University.
Coach McAngus’ previous coaching experiences include Copperas Cove High School (2010-11); LaMarque High School (2011-12) and Angelton High School (2012-15). While at Angelton, he was on a staff that was honored with the Brazoria County Coaching Staff of the Year.
Coach McAngus will teach Math at Temple High School along with assist the Wildcat Baseball program.
Jason Hoelscher (Defensive Backs/Linebackers)
Coach Hoelscher has been in coaching for nine years and is beginning his seventh year in Temple. He will be coaching safeties and freshman football.
Coach Hoelscher is a graduate of Troy High School where he participated in football, cross country, basketball, baseball, and tennis. In basketball, he was named to the All-District squad while he was a Regional Qualifier in both cross country and tennis. Following high school he attended and graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
Coach Hoelscher’s previous coaching experience includes Lake Belton Middle School, Bonham Middle School and Travis Science Academy.
Coach Hoelscher’s coaching philosophy is: The belief that no one will out work me or my athletes. That everyday I will put the same passion into my profession as I expect our players into their game. I try to instill in my players the traits that can be learned from sports like leadership, discipline, and teamwork that will help them in everyday life.
Coach Hoelscher will be teaching in the history department at Temple High School along with assisting the Wildcat Baseball program.
